Hello, everyone! My name is Jessie Benson, and I’m so excited to be your Media and Content Chair for the Service Unit. I’m originally from Colorado, but I’ve always considered Springfield a second home as most of my family is here. Professionally, I’m a solution architect, and I support cloud-based platforms in my day-to-day work (yes I am a bit of a nerd). Beyond my career, I have a deep passion for my girls—Piper (8) and Quinn (6)—who keep me busy with their love for gymnastics, dance, piano, cheer, and of course... Girl Scouts.

Before moving here, I had the privilege of being a Girl Scout leader in Colorado. Girl Scouts was a huge part of our lives, even with a small troop. We made lifelong friends, and my oldest daughter, Piper, really came out of her shell during her first year of cookie season. Watching her grow in confidence was truly special because she was once timid and scared to talk to people, but now, you would never know it. She’s not only helping her little sister, Quinn, but also encouraging our newer Girl Scouts, especially those who may be a bit nervous at the cookie booths. It’s amazing to see how much she’s blossomed and how she now helps others build their confidence as well.
Since moving to this area, I’ve been amazed at the opportunities Girl Scouts offers here. This area has so much more to offer than I could have imagined, and I’m so grateful to be part of such an amazing group of women who are dedicated to leading and encouraging our girls. Whether it’s camps, cookie rallies, tea parties, or outdoor movies, this service unit really knows how to have fun and create lasting memories for our girls!

One of the highlights of my time here has been hosting our very first Service Unit Pinewood Derby. It was such a fun and rewarding experience to see everyone’s excitement and creativity come to life. Watching the girls take ownership of their cars and race them with so much enthusiasm was incredible. I’m hopeful this event will become a new tradition for our service unit, something we can look forward to every year and continue to make special memories together.
I’m beyond excited to be part of this wonderful service unit and to see what the future holds for all of our girls. There’s so much ahead, and I’m eager to be part of the journey with you all!
Thank you for welcoming me, and I look forward to everything we’ll accomplish together!
